Rotary shaft or oil seals are designed to exclude dirt, dust, water or other contaminants, while retaining lubricant in rotary shaft applications. The sealing effect is achieved by selecting a smaller inside diameter than the shaft which preloads the sealing lip. Rotary shaft seals are used between rotating and static machinery components.
