Wiper Seals, also known as Scraper Seals are primarily designed to protect other components from contamination, whether that be from dust, dirt or moisture, or by cleaning the rod on each cycle. Some Wipers have secondary functions that may include a harder scraping lip to remove stubborn contaminants such as bonded dirt, frost or ice, or a secondary lip used to capture any oil that may have bypassed the main seal.
